Secret Agent Colby saves Seattle

Wish kid Colby as Agent C

“ Colby is much happier than he was six months ago, and that’s because of Make-A-Wish. ”

- Colby's mother

Colby doesn’t remember anything about the incident with supervillain Rex Velvet. The debacle left him with his memory wiped. Now, The Agency needs his services again. Agent A arrives to re-train Colby … and prepare him to once again face Rex Velvet.

Agent A and Colby – aka Agent C – then speed off in a Hummer limo to the forensics lab for a crash course. Soon after, he was off to meet Agent R at the Space Needle for a briefing. Agent R had vital information about Rex Velvet’s possible whereabouts, and she hoped it would help Agent C collar the evildoer before he could do any damage.

But no. Rex Velvet’s agents are everywhere. From their vantage point atop the Space Needle, a flash mob hoists signs with a message from the mustachioed maven of mayhem himself. The Agency still keeps the exact message under wraps, but the intent is clear: to say “I see you, Agent C, and you can’t find me, can’t catch me, can’t bring me down.”

Agent R has a hunch that the bowler-hatted bad guy won’t be able to resist more gloating. She thinks he’ll appear at a gathering of secret agents just a few hours from now. But first, Agent C has to look the part. A quick stop for evening wear at Brooks Brothers soon has him in the proper secret-agent formal wear.

Just as Agent R predicted, Rex Velvet has a smug video message waiting at the gathering: It contains a sly taunt at Agent C’s memory loss, and reminds him that Rex Velvet’s minions have him under surveillance …
A New Twist to the Chase

The next morning, Agent C awakes to learn that Rex Velvet has kidnapped Blitz, the Seattle Seahawks mascot. Worse yet, he has Agent R!

The agents scour the scene. Agent C’s investigative powers glean just enough information for the next step. Soon, he is in a helicopter headed for the water. A suspicious speedboat piques his interest.

Agent C spots Rex Velvet, his minions and the two captives. The helicopter touches down as the boat docks.

Supervillain Rex Velvet In an epic Silly String showdown, Rex Velvet comes off second-best. He collapses under the weight of the string, yet somehow recovers enough to make his escape. But first things first – Agent C secures Agent R and Blitz.

“I am sad to say that Rex Velvet escaped,” Agent A reports. “His whereabouts are currently unknown, and we have found that he has a strong following … and he could re-emerge at any place at any time. The consequences could be dire.”

One thing is certain: Agent C will be ready.

Who is Agent C?

Colby now remembers his secret agent past. And he is still aware of his present and future – part of which is living with spinal muscular atrophy. But after his wish, Colby’s medical condition no longer defines him. He’ll always be Agent C, hero to Seattle.

“Colby is much happier than he was six months ago, and that’s because of Make-A-Wish,” says his mother, Jodi. “It’s been quite an experience and we still talk about it just about every day.”

Colby’s father, Denn, is still in awe of the scope of Colby’s wish. It exceeded everything he or his son imagined. Hundreds of Seattle residents united to play a role in the wish, coming together to make life better for one 12-year-old boy. And they made the entire community a happier place in the process.

“I know nothing that he was thinking of would’ve even compared with the production that they were able to put together,” Denn says. “It obviously has a real special effect.”

How cool! Such creative wish granters, I can't imagine all the work that went into Colby's wish but how rewarding for the wish granters, all the people who graciously offered to participate and most importantly for Colby and his family. This is a wonderful story of how we can make a wish for each Child with a life-threatening illness come true and bring a little joy to them and their families. I'm so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful organization. Colby, your story definitely brought a smile to my face! You are the best secret agent ever!!!
